How to Use SEO
Before we get into the basic SEO example, let me give you a great reason why Search Engine Optimization is needed on the World Wide Web.

Have you noticed how everybody is in such a hurry? You can admit it, too. Remember the last time you were looking for some specific information online and you were cruising through websites faster than a triple sneeze?

With so many websites out there, you'd think more than one of them would have the information you searched for.

Well, actually there is more than one website with your search results.

But your information is probably on another page, or obscurely buried in unorganized, misdirected content. It would take an unspecified amount of time to make any sense out of it. But, I'm starting to ramble...

On the flipside...SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the best way to get people to YOUR website. Relative, keyword optimized content is the key.

Keywords are one of the foundations of SEO. Keywords will help your content keep its focus. As far as writing content is concerned, without keywords there is no SEO.

Here's the Example: Jane powered up her laptop, went to Google Search and typed in the word "pedometer", then clicked on "search".

The keyword "pedometer" is pretty vague because Google (the search engine) will come up with a list of numerous, various sites that contain the word "pedometer". Why? Because Google still doesn't exactly know what Jane wants.

But if Jane narrowed the query to "buy pedometer" or "women's pedometer" or "blue pedometer", Google could guide her in a more specific direction.

Now, if you sell pedometers in your online store, having your webpage properly optimized with the keyword "women's pedometer", Jane has a great chance of getting there.

This, my friend, is a very basic example of Search Engine Optimization. Keywords are the foundation of SEO. Keywords are also very effective in the webpage's title tag and the META description also.

Another thing about keywords: do not overuse them in your content. Use them strategically, but still allow your written content to flow smoothly without the keywords clumsily thrown in. Google likes good, informative, original content.

To succeed online, whether you are selling products or services, or just want to get your message across to a specific audience, you must have quality-written, SEO optimized content that provides the relevant information people are searching for.

SEO is a solid investment into the long-term health of your website. So before you write anymore content consider your audience, who they are, what they are searching for online, what keywords they'll use to search and what keywords you will use to help them find you.
